A pressure transmitter is a device that converts a pressure signal into an electrical signal. Industrial pressure transmitters can convert received pressure signals such as gas and liquid into standard current and voltage signals to supply secondary instruments such as indicating alarms, recorders, and regulators for measurement, indication, and process regulation. It is widely used in the fields of industry, environmental protection, energy, etc. to monitor and control the pressure in various environments and usage scenarios in real time.
Working Principle of Industrial Pressure Transmitters
The core part of the pressure transmitter is the sensor, which uses tiny pressure to cause deformation, and then converts this deformation into an electrical signal, which is finally output as a standard electrical signal.
The pressure transmitter is mainly composed of a pressure sensing chip, a processing circuit, and an output circuit. When the pressure of the measured medium acts on the pressure sensing chip, the bridge in the pressure sensing chip will change slightly, thereby generating a micro-potential signal. The processing circuit amplifies and filters the generated micro-potential signal, and then performs linear conversion and trimming, and finally converts it into a standard current signal or voltage signal output.
What is the Difference Between a Industrial Pressure Transmitters and a Transducer?
Industrial pressure transmitters and pressure sensors are both sensors used to measure the pressure of an object. However, they have several differences:
- Different output signal types: Pressure sensors usually output analog signals, such as voltage or current signals, while pressure transmitters can output analog signals or digital signals, such as RS485 communication interface, etc.
- Different signal ranges: The signal range of pressure sensors is usually fixed, while pressure transmitters can adjust the signal range according to application needs.
- Different applicable occasions: Pressure sensors are usually suitable for some simple occasions, while pressure transmitters are suitable for occasions where pressure needs to be measured and the signal is transmitted to the control system for processing.
- Different functions: Pressure sensors can only output the pressure signal of the measured object, while pressure transmitters can perform signal amplification, filtering, linearization and other processing through built-in electronic circuits to improve signal accuracy and stability, and can be directly connected to computers, PLCs and other control systems through digital signals for data processing.
Industrial pressure transmitters and pressure sensors can both be used to measure pressure parameters, but there are some differences between them. In practical applications, we need to choose the appropriate device type based on specific needs and scenarios.
How to select Pressure Transmitters?
Measuring range: Generally, the actual measured pressure is selected according to 80% of the measuring range. industrial pressure transmitters pressure range maximum value should be up to 1.5 times the maximum pressure value of the system, some water pressure and process control, there are pressure spikes or continuous pulses, these spikes may reach the maximum pressure of 5 times or even 10 times, thereby cause damage to the pressure transmitter;
Accuracy level: conventional pressure transmitter integrated accuracy of 0.075%, 0.1%, 0.5%, the higher the measurement accuracy, the higher the price. General industrial demand 0.075%, 0.1%, to meet the requirements.
The measured medium: can be divided into gas, liquid, etc. According to the different media correct selection, in favor of extending the service life of the transmitter.
Temperature range: Industrial pressure transmitters measuring medium temperature of -40 to +315 degrees, if the temperature is too high, the general use of condensation bend to cool the medium.
Output signals: pressure transmitter output signals are 4-20mA, RS485, hart protocol, wireless output and so on.
Installation: Industrial pressure transmitters are installed on the equipment connected to the threaded mounting, flange mounting, sanitary chuck mounting and so on.
