Factors Affecting the Accuracy of Vortex Flowmeter

Vortex flowmeter are widely used in the field of fluid measurement, but inaccurate measurement is a common problem. Mass flow is related to density and is also affected by factors such as pipeline pressure, fluid type, steam humidity, and environment, which are directly related to the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter.

1. Saturated vapor dryness change

When measuring saturated steam with a vortex flowmeter, the saturated steam humidity is required to be less than 15%. However, when the saturated steam is transported a certain distance in the pipeline, the humidity of the saturated steam will exceed 15%, which will reduce the accuracy.

If the influence of steam humidity is not considered, the data obtained will be lower than the actual flow rate. Therefore, the secondary instrument of the flowmeter should have the function of setting saturated steam humidity and correction. At the same time, the flowmeter with improved steam quality can improve the accuracy of the flowmeter overall.

2. Pressure change

Due to the use of many valves in the pipeline, any valve operation will change the pressure value in the pipeline. Changing the pressure means changing the density of the steam. At the same time, the operation of opening the valve will also change the flow of steam in the pipeline, causing measurement errors.

3. Pipeline and flowmeter vibration

The instrument coefficient error of the vortex flowmeter is related to the pipeline vibration speed, and the overall anti-seismic performance is poor. As the pipeline vibration frequency increases, the instrument coefficient decreases. If the pipeline and flowmeter are not properly strengthened, or the flowmeter vibrates near the motor, the vibration will interfere with the vortex flowmeter, causing the flowmeter measurement value to be too high or causing the flow rate to be judged incorrectly.

4. The outlet side of the flow meter is connected to the atmosphere

The outlet side of the vortex flowmeter is directly connected to the atmosphere, and the pressure difference before and after is too large, which cannot correctly reflect the flow change. This is mainly caused by unreasonable pipeline layout.
